Abstract

Efforts are now underway at ICRISAT in India, to develop hardy, higher-protein pulses by crossing pigeonpea cultivars (Cajanus cajan) with species from the genus Atylosia. Hybrids have been obtained from C. cajan (cv. Baigani) X A. albicans; these yielded 31.3% protein on a dry weight basis, and prospects for greater increases appear good
