Abstract

Different techniques for inducing water stress were evaluated in semi-controlled conditions in a glass house and the field to study the effects o f increasing soil moisture deficits on seedling growth o f sorghum (Sorghum bicolor <L.) Moench). Drought resistance indices, such as degrees o f ‘ wilting, recovery and number o f recovered plants, were measured and genotypic differences were observed. Correlations among these seedling indices for the different techniques were high (r = 0 .9 0 * * , P < 0.01).
