Abstract
Pearlmillet (Pennisetum icm(L) Leeke) is a staple cereal for a vast proportion of humankind living in the hot, drought-prone arid and semi-arid regions of -less-developed countries of the world, particularly Africa and Asia. It is considered to be one of the most drought and heat tolerant crops grown i n marginal, light, sandy and rocky soil, Pearl millet is believed to have originated in tropical Africa where may allied species are also found (Krishnaswami, 1951) Its cultivation, primarily as a food crop, extends from several countries of East and West Africa to India and Pakistan in South Asia....
