Abstract

The concept of food security has evolved, developed, multiplied and diversified since the first World Food Conference of 1974. There are close to 200 different definitions of the term, but the essence of all these definitions is similar. The most common and useful definition of food security is "food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical. social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food which meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life....
