Abstract

The Semi-Arid Tropics of the world are characterised by shQrt wet period and long dry periods. The evapotranspiration demand of the climate far exceeds the precipitation for most part of the year. According to Troll (1966), the areas characterised by 2At wet months (P> ET) and 10 to 7t dry months are classified as dry semi-arid tropics whereas 4-7 wet months and 8-5 dry months are considered humid semi-arid tropics...
