Abstract
Cajanus cajan cv. ICP8863 was selected from ICP7626, a land race from Uttar Pradesh, under conditions of heavy Fusarium wilt infection. In trials at 13 sites throughout India during 1978-90, the incidence of wilt on ICP8863 was 0-26%, compared with 45-100% on ICP2376. It has oval, orange to dark brown seeds, with a 100-seed weight of 9.5 g, and is of medium maturity. It can be used for sole cropping or intercropping and yields well in both dry and wet seasons.
