Abstract
ICMP1 was derived from J606 X J703-1, ICMP2 from J2238 X J2210-2, and ICMP3 and 4 from 700708-1E1 X J797-1E1-2, all parents being from India except 700708 (from Kano, Nigeria). Each population is a sib-bulk of several selected lines with combined resistance to Claviceps fusiformis, Tolyposporium penicillariae and Sclerospora graminicola. In ICRISAT and international trials, incidence of infection by these pathogens was ≤4%. In yield trials at 7 sites in India in 1984, ICMP3 and ICMP4 had grain yields of 2170 and 1970 kg/ha, respectively, compared with 1940 kg/ha for the standard, WC-C75. The populations are recommended for use in breeding disease-resistant synthetics
