Abstract
In a 5 X 5 diallel cross studied in the parents and F1, mean general combining ability effects were larger than mean specific combining ability effects and both were significant. HD1976, UP245 and UP240 had high general combining ability estimates and high mean scores for leaf rolling. The highest F1 mean score for leaf rolling was in HD1976 X UP240. Raj 829, UP240 and UP245 had the most dominant genes. Additive genetic effects were important in determining leaf rolling
