Abstract
Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea l..) plays an important role both as a food and cash crop for smallholder farmers in Mozambique. It is an important component of rural diet; groundnut oil is a popular cooking medium and the flour is used to enrich the relish. Roasted and boiled nuts arc eaten as snack food. Groundnut provides supplementary cash income to women fanners in Mozambique who support their families, especially children's education and health.
