Abstract
In trials with (a) 21 desi [small-seeded] and (b) 19 kabuli [large-seeded] chickpea cv., seed coat in seeds of (a) and (b) was in the range 9.7-17.3% (av. 14.2%) and 3.7-7 (4.9)%, resp., seed coat thickness 115-205 u (av. 144) and 37-106 mu (58.5) and 100-seed wt. 11.6-33.6 g (av. 16.4) and 11.3-43.9 g (25.4). The seed coat percentage was positively correlated with seed coat thickness and was negatively correlated with 100-seed wt. Seed coat thickness was not associated with seed wt.
