Abstract
Some 153 pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) lines were screened for resistance to pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus (PSMV) variant 2 during May 1993 and for resistance to a new strain during May 1994. The incidence of PSMV varied from 0 to 100% in different lines. Of the lines, 37 were resistant and 83 tolerant of variant 2, but only 17 lines were resistant and 28 lines tolerant of the new strain. Of the 17 lines, only ICP8852 and ICP11276 were not resistant to variant 2.
