Abstract

To inoculate a 2-ha field, 1 kg peat containing 109-1010 cells of Rhizobium strain IC 59/g peat was mixed with 200 kg coarse river sand, wetted with 200 litres of water containing 10 kg jaggery [brown unrefined sugar], then broadcast and immediately harrowed. This treatment in Aug. 1987 produced good root nodulation in Cajanus cajan plants.
