Abstract

Thirty-six accessions belonging to 7 wild annual Cicer species were evaluated for resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceris, Sclerotium [Corticium] rolfsii, Ascochyta rabiei and Botrytis cinerea. Standard screening techniques developed at ICRISAT for each pathogen were used. Only C. bijugum ICCW72 and C. echinospermum ICCW44 showed low incidence (13%) of F. oxysporum and none were resistant to C. rolfsii. Resistance to A. rabiei was observed in several accessions of C. judaicum, 2 of C. bijugum (ICCW 41 and 42) and 6 of C. pinnatifidum. All accessions were largely susceptible to B. cinerea, except for C. bijugum accessions ICCW41, ICCW42 and ICCW91.
