Abstract

Susceptibility to R. bataticola [Macrophomina phaseolina] increased with age at inoculation. From 30 d onwards all 5 cultivars showed equal susceptibility, though they had been selected for differences in susceptibility when inoculated at 5 d. Screening for resistance to this disease should therefore be carried out with plants that are at least 30 d old.
