Abstract

The current status of research on bacterial wilt of groundnut in Asia is reviewed. Particular emphasis is given to recent advances in serological and molecular techniques for identification and differentiation of races, biovars, and strains of the wilt pathogen, Pseudomonas solanacearum.. Recommendations are made for further collaborative research, and the need to interest potential donors in promoting the Group's activities is emhasized. The publication includes country papers summarizing the status of the disease in China, Indonesia , Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.
