Abstract
Cicer arietinum seeds received at the Plant Quarantine Unit for export were infected by a pathovar of X. campestris which either killed the seeds before germination, or seedlings soon after emergence or caused a progressive wilt of older plants. Dipping infected seed in 30% hydrogen peroxide alone or with streptocycline (1000 p.p.m.) gave complete control of seedborne infection without reducing germination.
