Abstract
These proceedings contain the summaries of 10 papers on crop production and management in semiarid regions. Topics include strategic assessment of agriculture in the semiarid tropics; pest and disease biodiversity and their management (i.e. integrated control); vegetational diversity, arthropod response, and pest management; effect of organic resources management on soil biodiversity and crop performance under semiarid conditions in West Africa; managing and harnessing soil flora and fauna biodiversity for sustainable crop production; improving agricultural productivity and livelihoods through pollination; strengthening crop biodiversity through targeted seed-supply interventions; enhancing the livelihood of rural communities by promoting neglected crops and associated biodiversity; and improving the productivity and livelihood benefits of crop-livestock systems through the sustainable management of agricultural biodiversity.
