Abstract

The current status of research on aflatoxin contamination problems in groundnut in Asia is reviewed. Particular emphasis is given to recent advances in aflatoxin management technologies including genetic resistance to Aspergillus flavus infect ion and aflatoxin product ion, and analytical and immunochemical methods for the analysis of aflatoxins. The publication includes country papers summarizing the status of the groundnut aflatoxin problem in Bangladesh, China, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Recommendations are made for collaborative research, and the need to interest potential donors in promoting the Group's activities is stressed.
